Real diamonds are being challenged all days by some good or bad fakes.
Fakes can be such as cubic zirconia and moissanites on the market over both price and their beauty.

Two German scientists discovered Cubic Zirconia in 1937. But in 1970´s Russian scientist found a working way in a laboratory to create them.
But remember, a synthetic diamond is one that was created in a lab and has very similar physical properties to a natural diamond. But what are these properties?
How do you identify fakes:
You will see through zirconia as you can through a normal window. Place the zirconia on whtie paper, you allow the print to be seen. Placeing it on something black, you can see the black color through it. To diamonds this dosent happen at all. The reflection from the facets scatters light everywhere you look trough.
A fake diamond can be manmade in a few hours by taking that same carbon and putting it under intense high pressure, its not easy but true.

How you determine if a ring is high quality or not?
Check the following points:
1. The Casting Quality
2. The Prong Settings
3. The Channel Settings
4. The Metal Quality
5. The Gemstone Quality

The Casting Quality
Check if enough metal used to create the ring. The band should be thick around the whole ring so it will not wear out.
Some Rings which are not cast well can wear out or break. Verifying a clean casting: They have no pits

The Prong Settings
Check your prong settings twice a your, to ensure a stone hasn´t become loose.The Prongs should be strong enough.
Stones set in rings with prongs need at least 6 prongs to ensure that the stone will stay in the ring. Stones should NOT wiggle in its setting.

The Channel Settings
Be sure that there is a real channel on your ring in which the stones are set in. If ist a real channel, single stones will not come out under normal conditions. An Impression with a thin additional bit of metal places the stones right.

Metal Quality
Qaulity marks are imprinted on the inside of a ring an can be re-polisched if the get scrateched.

Gemstone Quality
Look for stones without imperfections and with good color. Check how good the stone ist cut and how heavy it is.
